Who
are we?
We, the members
of the EASTEX Detachment come from all walks of life, with the common
thread of having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

What
do we do? We help our community,
our Corps and fellow marines. Just as the Corps is organized,
our Detachment is organized
into committees to ensure the task at hand is completed in the finest tradition of the Corps.
And speaking of tradition, do you know the meanings of the Marine Corps emblem and colors?

It's the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the Soldier, not the politicians, that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

Our Detachment is once again offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior at each high school in Montgomery County. Qualified applicants must write an essay on “Patriotism” and be related to a Marine (or Navy Corpsman with FMF experience)
All interested students should check with their respective school counselor for more information.
